Project: The artwork for Plymouth St consists of a gate design that had to function on a variety of levels. Primarily the client (Cardiff City Council) required a closing off of an alleyway on the main shopping boulevard in Cardiff City centre. The gate had to be a fully functioning fire gate with quick release from within. The design commissioned by Safle (Public Arts consultants) consists of laser cut and powder coated stainless steel panels that are offset and using the moiré effect create an animation of figures performing a summersault. The effect is created by the motion of the viewer in passing.
